Russian media spread misinformation about a Digital Disinformation study

Several Russian publications, Ukraina.ru, RIA and Sputnik, has spread misinformation about the conclusions in a Digital Disinformation study. They claim that the study concludes that RT, the Russian state-funded television network, provided the most truthful information about Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, which was shot down on 17 July 2014. They also claim that the study concludes that RT has an exceptional impact on social media users, and that theories concerning an information warfare between the Kremlin and the West are untrue.

The claims are false. The study concludes that RT was an active driver in the spreading of disinformation about MH17. The study also concludes that among the audience of individuals that supported disinformation narratives, RT exhibited the greatest influence and outreach.
